A fine art exhibition on protecting the national sea and island sovereignty opened at Ho Chi Minh City Fine Arts Museum last week.
The display aims to protest China’s illegal placement of its drilling rig HD 981 in Vietnam’s exclusive economic zone.
The exhibition showcases ancient maps and more than 70 latest art works by 35 contemporary artists, indicating Vietnam’s sovereignty over Hoang Sa and Truong Sa. They include paintings and posters affirming the national sovereignty over islands and seas.
The organizers, the Ho Chi Minh City Fine Arts Association and HCMC Fine Arts Museum, will organize the event in universities in the city and neighboring provinces, such as Dong Nai, Binh Duong, Ba Ria-Vung Tau, Tien Giang, Ben Tre, Dong Thap and Ca Mau.
