Vietnamese beauty Jenny Nguyen received The Best Artist award at the 2014 Miss Asia Pacific World pageant held on May 31 at Korea’s Grand Hilton Seoul hotel.

The gala welcomed over 1,000 people who came to see 40 contestants from 40 countries and territories during several rounds that included traditional costume, swimsuit, and evening gown.

The Vietnamese beauty explained she chose to wear “ao dai” (the traditional Vietnamese gown) because it represents the soul of Vietnam, highlights a woman’s features, and brings out the wearer’s feminine side.

“I hope to share my happiness with all members of society by doing charitable activities, which our family often did when I was young. Sharing can make us happier as to give is to receive,” Jenny said of her future plans after winning the award.

Having gone to the U.S. to study at the age of 15, Jenny revealed that she learned a lot from her experiences, especially how to live independently and confidently.

After the contest, she plans to return to Vietnam to pursue a career in entertainment.

Miss Asia Pacific World is a beauty contest that has been organized annually since 2011. The first edition of the pageant was held in Korea’s Busan, at which Korean beauty Jung Eun A was the winner. Malaysian May Myat Noe was the 2014 victor.
