An exhibit, running in downtown Ho Chi Minh City until July 19, features contemplative paintings by a young Vietnamese French artist.
Artist Truc-Anh’s exhibit, with a seemingly meaningless name, “oNiReaKHoWaRiGNoRaLiSMe”, is running at 65 De Tham, District 1.
On exhibit are small-sized paintings on Chinese ink adopting the style which blurs the lines between photography, fashion and painting.
However, the exhibit’s highlights are Truc-Anh’s large-sized ones, which are an intriguing blend of bright colors, and eerie, distorted shapes.
They are expressive of a mixture of feelings, including agony and dubiousness, and strongly remind viewers of famed Pablo Picasso’s masterpieces.
Born in 1983 in Paris, Truc-Anh trained in Applied Arts in such schools as France’s Ecole Boulle, Switzerland’s Haute Ecole d’Art et de Design and Belgium’s La Cambre- Ecole Nationale Superieure des Arts Visuels.
He has created artworks in various art media including painting, photography, sculpture and performing.
“Painting is a brilliant medium to perceive this world, and represents searches and comparisons of human history spanning various eras and styles. This is why I became an artist in the first place,” Truc-Anh shared.
