The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has issued Document No 1990/ BVHTTDL-DSVH to send to Khanh Hoa provincial People’s Committee and the Ministry of National Defence on the urgency of preserving stele national relics in Truong Sa archipelago in Truong Sa district, Khanh Hoa province.

Accordingly, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism asked Khanh Hoa provincial People’s Committee to coordinate with the Ministry of National Defence to instruct relevant agencies to propose specific measures on the preservation of the relics on Song Tu Tay and Nam Yet islands.

The mMnistry also asked Khanh Hoa provincial People’s Committee and the Ministry of National Defence to assign management tasks to local authorities and individuals for the preservation of the relics. Relevant agencies need to cooperate with committees, agencies and mass media to provide information about the value of the relics. Increased awareness of society is needed regarding the protection of national sovereignty over sea and islands.

Earlier, the two steles affirming Vietnam’s sovereignty over the Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelago have been recognized as national relics, pursuant to a recent decision by Vietnam’s Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism. One of the steles is situated on Song Tu Tay island and the other on Nam Yet island. These two islands form part of Truong Sa district in Khanh Hoa province./.
