Vietnam attaches great importance to the building of sustainable development goals and seriously implements its commitments to them, a Vietnamese diplomat has said.
Ambassador Le Hoai Trung, head of the Vietnamese delegation to the United Nations told a seminar in New York on May 8 that it is essential for the UN to take effective measures to implement the sustainable development goals.
He also stressed the significance of the event as it offered a chance for countries to discuss the issue and deploy direct support for the building of objectives.
The co-hosting of the seminar with the Netherlands and Mexico is a practical contribution of Vietnam to the UN’s common efforts, showing it is a responsible and active member of the international community.
Experts and scholars agreed that sustainable development goals address global challenges in three pillars – economics, social affairs and the environment and therefore, it is necessary to adopt an overall approach and an evaluation from different angles such as social and environment impact alongside economic analysis.-VNA
