A Vietnamese pop star has become the first singer from Vietnam to be honored at a world-renowned music awards ceremony in Monaco.

Female singer My Tam was presented with the “Best-selling artists from each major territory” award at the prestigious and well-known World Music Awards – WMA in Monte Carlo on May 27.
Tam was one of 25 artists from several countries in the world including the United States, China, and Korea who received the award.
Besides, she was nominated in three categories including “World’s Best Female Artist,” “World’s Best Live Act,” and “World’s Best Entertainer.”
In April, along with Vietnamese singer My Linh, the 33 year-old pop star was short-listed to be among 62 Asian singers to have been nominated in the WMA this year.
The award also saw attendances and performances of world-renowned artists including Grammy-winning singer Mariah Carey, American actress and singer Miley Cyrus, American rapper Flo Rida and Puerto Rican pop musician, actor and author Ricky Martin.
The World Music Awards is an international awards show founded in 1989. Based in Monte Carlo, awards are presented to the world’s best-selling artists in the various categories and to the best-selling artists from each major territory.
