Vietnam would have topped group A if they had not conceded the late goal in the last ten seconds of the game against Kuwait.

Despite winning one of the two tickets to secure a spot in the quarterfinals, coach Bruno Garcia of Vietnam said, “It’s regretful that Vietnam failed to keep its goal net clean to top group A. However, any rival in the quarterfinals is strong and we will try our best in the match against Iran.”

“I’m happy with this victory,” he added.

Iran are considered ‘The Kings of Asian Futsal’ as they have won ten Asian Futsal Championships and are the 6th strongest team in the world, according to the most recent Futsal World Ranking.

The four quarterfinal matches on Wednesday will be Kuwait – Australia, Vietnam – Iran, Thailand – Uzbekistan, and Malaysia – Kyrgyzstan.

The 2014 Asian Futsal Championship, which will last until May 10, is made up of 16 national teams divided in four groups.
