(Cinet)- Sen village festival was an activity of arts for all to celebrate Uncle Ho’s birthday on May 19, marking the 120th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh’s birth.



The festival officially opened in the evening of May 15 in Nghe An – Uncle Ho’s birthplace. It will attract performers from Nghe An, Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Thanh Hoa, Tuyen Quang, Dong Nai, Binh Duong and Soc Trang which will join a Sen Village singing contest, perform in Vinh City and other districts in Nghe An and hold exchanges with students.


Nam Dan district, in particular, was chosenas one of the five districts in the country to implement the national targets programme to create new, more modern rural lifestyles.


Addressing at the opening ceremony, Mr. Thai Van Nong, head of Nam Dan Provincial People’s Committee stated that the festival aimed to show their love and respect for President Ho Chi Minh.


The two-day event includes numerous activities, including offering incense to commemorate Uncle Ho and a traditional music festival. Nghe An province has also held a wide range of activities to mark Uncle Ho’s birthday, such as offering incense and flowers at President Ho Chi Minh’s memorial house, a meeting, a youth camp, the opening of an air route between Vinh and Hanoi and a film week on Uncle Ho.

The festival took place on May 17-19, 2014.
