In the morning of May 17th, at Tuy Hoa city stadium, the PPC organized the opening ceremony of the 6th Provincial Sports Festival in 2014.

After the rituals of lighting the traditional torch, pupils of primary schools in Tuy Hoa city performed the public dance, the soldiers of the public security, armed officers and frontier border guards performed the self-defense martial arts, the traditional martial arts pupils, and followers of Taekwondo performed the traditional martial arts positions. The ceremony was concluded with nice art performances by Tran Quoc Toan secondary school pupils.



Addressing at the opening ceremony, PPC Vice chairman Tran Quang Nhat, head of the festival organizing board, stressed, : the movement of public sports in Phu Yen province in the past time has developed intensively and extensively with more than 26.5% of the population doing regularly. High score sports has seen lots of efforts and encouraging achievements. Besides, material conditions have been consolidated to improve people’s health. I hope after this Festival, Phu Yen province will further promote the implementation of mobilizing the entire population to do physical training as to the example of Great uncle Ho; continue to develop the province’s sports movement (speech by the vice chairman released in this edition).

Prior to the festival, the province’s localities had organized contests for 11 out of 16 contents, including: chess, billiards, badminton, table tennis, volleyball, football, traditional martial arts, vovinam, taekwondo, swimming and cross-country running. The remaining 5 contents of stick pushing, athletics, stilts, cross-bow shooting and tug-of-war are held during the days of May 17th, 18th and 19th.
