Losing 2-3 on aggregate in the play-off, Vietnam will play in group III next year.

In February, Vietnam lost 2-3 on aggregate to Pakistan in group II of Davis Cup Asia/Oceania Zone before engaging in the relegation battle with Sri Lanka.

Despite the loss, the Vietnamese national tennis team was awarded US$5,000 by the Vietnam Tennis Federation.
