Nhan Dan – Two planning schemes developed by the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) a strategy and a master plan on developing Vietnam’s industry to 2020 with a vision to 2035, were tabled at a meeting in Hanoi on April 17 under the chairmanship of Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai.


At the gathering, policymakers suggested general targets for the country’s industry and specific goals in industrial growth, including value added, production values, industry’s proportion of gross domestic product (GDP) and the share of processing and manufacturing industries in industrial production.


The strategy consists of prioritised targets, from adjusting the growth model to developing preferred industries and products, from which to devise plans to develop each industry and product. The prioritised industries include mechanical, metallurgy, chemicals, agricultural and forestry products and seafood processing, textile, footwear, electronics, IT, energy and support industry.


Delegates commented on major issues in developing the two schemes, while thoroughly analysing realities and ideas on the development of each industry and industry group.


Deputy PM Hai asked MOIT to collect ideas at the meeting and complete contents and regulations in the schemes, which are expected to become an important basis for developing the country’s industry in the right direction.
