Two special concerts will take place at the Hanoi Opera House on May 7-8 to mark the 60th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu victory (May 7, 1954).


The first is the “Diem hen” (Rendezvous), a piece composed by French-Vietnamese musician Nguyen Thien Dao, that captures the flow of the country’s history, including the birth of the country, the wars against invaders and the great victories. It will consist of a four-movement piece and will last around 25 minutes, Artist Bui Cong Duy will perform the work ‘Poeme, Op.25′ written by French romantic composer Ernest Chausson in 1896.


The last classical work performed at the concerts will be Beethoven’s Symphony no.3 entitled ‘Eroica’ (Heroic).


The concerts will be conducted by violin soloist Bui Cong Duy and the Vietnam National Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Japanese conductor HonnaTetsuji./.
