For the first time, the legendry story of two lovers will be changed into Cai luong opera and performed by artists from Vietnam Cai luong Theatre at the Khau Vai love market 2014.
Legend has it that a couple who loved each other very much but could not live together made promise to meet once a year in Khau Vai. Since then, the festival has been held every year on the 27th day of the third lunar month for ex-lovers to reunite, making it an appealing tourist destination for visitors to Dong Van Karst Plateau.
The information was released at the press briefing in Hanoi on April 18 about the Khau Vai love market tourism and cultural festival 2014 to be held from April 24-26 in Khau Vai commune, Meo Vac district, in the northern mountainous province of Ha Giang.
A beauty contest for ethnic girls in the province will be also organized at the festival for the first time.
Visitors to the festival can experience a horse race to the love market, participate in the market and study weaving techniques and musical instrument making by the H’mong ethnic people.
In addition, visitors will have a chance to participate in folk games and enjoy indigenous dishes and specialties of the people living on the plateau./.
