Nhan Dan Online – The National Traffic Safety Committee (NTSC), the Asia Injury Prevention Foundation (AIPF) and the provincial Departments of Education and Training launched the ‘Helmets for Kids’ programme on April 28 and 29.
More than 4,000 helmets were presented to pupils and teachers at primary schools in Dong Nai, Ha Tinh and Quang Binh provinces. There are many highways passing through these provinces that bring the hidden risk of traffic accidents.
Additionally, the organising board will also present nearly 6,000 helmets to Grades 1 pupils when the new school year begins in September 2014.
The programme is intended to raise awareness among students and parents regarding the safety provided by wearing helmets.
Since 2011, the project has presented 25,113 helmets to pupils at 39 primary schools in Dong Nai, Ha Tinh and Quang Binh provinces.
