More war-era munitions detected in Yen Bai province

(VOV) -A 450kg bomb, 1.5m in length, was discovered in Van Yen district in the northern mountainous province of Yen Bai on April 3.

The unexploded ordnance was unearthed by workers of Son Tung Company while they were constructing a road section between An Binh and Dong An communes.

Son Tung Company immediately evacuated the work site and notified local authorities who blocked off the area until munition specialists can deactivate the bomb.

Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Dinh Tao, a military officer from the Yen Bai provincial Military Command, said the bomb is now under the control by Van Yen district military officers.

“We are devising a plan to destroy this bomb,” he said.
