(Cinet) – International scientific seminar ” Maintaining and developing value of folk song in temporary society” will be organized in two days on May 14-15 in Vinh city, Nghe An.
The seminar will focus on types of folk song in Nghe An. As known, it is one of some acitivities to build Document to turn a list of intangible cultural heritage of humanity.
The seminar consists of some experts about heritage, some artisans and representatives for Nghe An, ha Tinh and some cultural managers.
Being a form of folk song in the Central Vietnam, the form of the art has been maintained in many past years. Vi and Dam, two kinds of folk music from the central provinces of Nghe An and Ha Tinh, often reflect the work and cultural lives of people in the coastal provinces. The songs feature vocalists singing in a call and response pattern accompanied by castanets. Nghe An and Ha Tinh provincial authorities have paid much attention to organizing movements to encourage young people to sing vi and dam, including a program to integrate traditional folk songs into the school curriculum.
