While Pattaya is sometimes referred to as the “city of devils” thanks to its busy walking street filled with sexy girls luring tourists to enjoy their “A go go” services, investors of a new attraction emerged last year are hoping to turn such an infamous title into something sweeter — like the “city of love.”

Located on the main road south out of Pattaya and some 150km from Bangkok, Mimosa Pattaya – The City of Love, is a Dutch/French/Italian/British architectural mash-up where tourists will find a number of romantic places to take photograph with. There are also restaurants and souvenir shops where the attraction’s owners hope tourists will stop by and open their pocket.

The attraction, which had a soft opening on February 14, 2013, is increasingly capturing the love of local youths and holidaymakers, especially those who are in love or married, by giving them faux-European experience.

Mimosa Pattaya used to be called the French village, but it is now a colorful place with Holland-style houses and a peaceful canal where a couple of geese leisurely swim in pure water, giving tourists the impression that they are somewhere amid a countryside village in the Europe.

Thitirat Meerat, who works in Bangkok, chose that faux-European landscape to be the background for her wedding album, even though she does not live near “the city of love.”

I wanted to take my wedding photos and save my memorable love here because there are many unique corners for posing,” Thitirat, gorgeous in her white wedding dress, told Tuoitrenews.

Thitirat and her friends had to travel more than 160km to Pattaya for the wedding album because “I love to travel to the Europe but has never had the chance,” she said.

Mimosa has the backgrounds I want to have for my photos,” she added.

Thitirat also expressed her hope that after taking photos at this faux-European village, she and her spouse would be “lucky enough to save enough money to afford a true Europe trip and realize our dreams.”

Investors of the attraction are hopeful that Mimosa Pattaya will be a place for true love and will help erase the infamous impression of being the city of devils where men easily go bad.

And the city of love is gradually winning favor from those who are in love or will be shot by the God of love.
