A tropical storm that is moving towards the Philippines has been bringing rain to southern Vietnam, the Southern Hydro-Meteorological Station said Monday.

Impacted by storm Peipah that is approaching the Philippines, southern Vietnamese provinces will continue to have rain in coming days, with rainfall to increase by 15-20 percent compared to the past several days, according to Huynh Minh Giam, deputy director of the station.
Giam warned that rain may be accompanied by dangerous gales, so everybody must be careful while traveling in the rain.
Great loss
During the past few days, rain and powerful winds have swept through many provinces and cities across the country, causing great damage.
On Monday afternoon, rain and gusts knocked down 22 trees in Ho Chi Minh City but there were no casualties.
Yesterday evening, heavy rain and howling gales destroyed and blew off roofs of about 300 houses in Son Linh Commune, Son Ha District, central Quang Ngai Province, and injured two residents.
Gusts and hailstorms have ravaged about 1,000 houses and many crops in the northern provinces of Ha Giang and Lao Cai, causing a loss of over VND5.7 billion (US$270,700) lately.
Deadly lightning
Two women were struck dead by lightning in a Central Highlands province, local authorities said Monday.
At 3:00 pm yesterday, a 43-year-old woman, Mai Thi Thanh, was killed by lightning in Hiep An Commune, Duc Trong District, the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong.
The accident occurred when Thanh and some other people were sheltering themselves from a rainstorm at a greenhouse in the commune.
Thanh passed out after being hit by the lightning and was taken to hospital, but she died on the way.
At 4:00 pm on Sunday, lightning claimed the life of another woman, 31-year-old Nguyen Thi Kim Cuc.
Cuc was working in her garden in the same commune then.
