Enterprises honoured at the event for their fast growth during the 2009-2012 period
Nhan Dan Online – A ceremony was held in Hanoi on April 4 to honour the 500 quickest-growing firms in Vietnam in terms of revenue growth during the 2009-2012 period.
The ceremony was co-organised by VietNamNet e-newspaper and consultancy firm Vietnam Report.
According to the FAST 500 ranking in 2013 announced on February 18 by Vietnam Report, Intimex Nha Trang JSC topped the list, followed by CNG Vietnam JSC and Phan Minh Investment Production Trading Services Co. Ltd.
This is the fourth year the FAST500 ranking has been published. It was built on the principles of the Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR), which considers firms’ total assets, labour and post-tax profit, in addition to turnover in the 2009-2012 period.
This year’s FAST 500 enterprises had an average annual growth rate of 44.7% in that period, lower than the 62.2% recorded between 2008 and 2011, and reflecting the long-term influence of the global economic crisis.
The food and beverage industry posted the highest number of businesses on the list, accounting for 18% of the total, followed by construction and real estate with 16% and mineral, oil and gas with 9%.
However, in terms of CAGR growth, the fisheries sector recorded the highest growth rate at 65.1%, replacing the engineering sector in the top position of this year’s FAST500. It was followed by construction, building materials, and real estate (59.2%) and transportation (58.6%).
According to Vietnam Report, businesses in the FAST500 list are typical pioneers of Vietnam’s economy and are expected to be positive factors contributing to the recovery of the domestic economy.
