(Cinet)- Vietnamese Taekwondo martial artist Nguyen Thi Thu Thuy recently won a silver medal in the women’s 44 kg weight category at Youth Olympic qualifiers in Taiwan this August.


Thu Thuyearned a ticket to the Nanjing 2014 Summer Youth Olympics in China after winning in semi-finals and losing in final round to get silver medal.


On May, 2014, Vietnam participated into Da Nang’s sports center under a direction of Jun Jang Hee.


The 26-year-old athlete finished second in the women’s 44 kg weight category following her 1-5 loss to Panipak Wongphattanakit of Thailand in the final game.


The success helped the young Vietnamese taekwondo athlete pluck one slot to participate in the upcoming competition.


Previously, two Vietnamese taekwondo athletes including Nguyen Thanh Thao (women’s 55kg category) and Nguyen Quoc Cuong (men’s 55 kg category) brought home silver and bronze medals, respectively, at the Youth Olympics 2010 in Singapore.
