Vietnam founds MH370 search command center on Phu Quoc Many international reporters are heading to Vietnam’s Phu Quoc Island, where a frontline command center was set up Monday to coordinate search operations for the missing Malaysia Airlines plane.

The command headquarters were set up at Phu Quoc International Airport following an order by Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Transport Pham Quy Tieu, as the search and rescue mission entered its third day.

Almost 20 reporters from i-CABLE News Limited (Hong Kong), China Central Television, AFP, BBC, AP, Reuters, and others are present on Phu Quoc Island to cover the search and rescue mission.

As of 10:30 am Monday, seven Vietnamese ships have joined the search for the missing flight MH370, according to the National Committee for Search and Rescue.

Tuoi Tre‘s on-the-scene reporters said that a Singapore aircraft had spotted an orange object, appearing to be an airplane life raft or life vest, in the waters believed to be the crash site of Malaysia Airlines flight MH370.

But then Vietnamese aviation authorities confirmed that the object is simply a cable reel cap.

Another object suspected to be one of the windows or doors of MH370 was also discovered late Sunday some 90 kilometers south of Vietnam’s Tho Chu Island, where the Malaysian jet reportedly crashed early Saturday.

Vietnam’s SAR-272 ship reached the location at 11:00 am today, but found no such an object, according to a Tuoi Tre reporter aboard the rescue vessel.

Authorities have yet to confirm any crash, saying MH370 has gone missing only.
