Vietnam closely cooperates with Malaysia in search efforts

(VOV) -In the coming days, Vietnam will continue to work closely with Malaysia to hunt for the missing plane, has affirmed Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Le Hai Binh.



Addressing a regular press briefing of the Foreign Ministry in Hanoi on March 13, Binh emphasized that Vietnam has maximized efforts in searching for the Malaysia Airlines flight MH370, which disappeared with 239 passengers and crew en route from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing.

The nation unhesitatingly mobilised financial and military resources to the effort, deploying rapidly its modernized Naval and Air forces in the immediate aftermath of the tragic event, he noted.


With the country’s brightest political and military leaders at the helm, it has methodically laid out a plan to systematically and meticulously search for the plane in a coordinated manner with other participating nations of the world.

Maritime patrol aircraft investigates possible debris


Vietnam has dispatched CASA aircraft to re-check areas where Chinese satellites showed objects that potentially could be debris from the missing Malaysian jet.


On March 13, Vietnamese rescue forces resumed search efforts for the missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 after satellite images of possible debris in the East Sea were reported by China.

The aircraft and naval ship HQ 637 of Vietnam were sent to the location Chinese satellite reported sighting unknown objects in the waters.


Earlier, China’s State Administration for Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense announced the discovery of three suspected floating objects in sea area between Vietnam and Malaysia.


Four Vietnamese planes were also deployed to suspected area to scouring for the lost jetliner with a focus on U Minh forest and the eastern part of southernmost Ca Mau province.

Deputy Minister of Transport Pham Quy Tieu said Vietnam always announces all of what it has discovered from the missing jet, and spares no efforts in the search and rescue work.


He called for Malaysia to provide updated information on the case and actively cooperated with Vietnamese agencies in the hunt.


On March 12, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of Vietnam People’s Army, Lieut. Gen Vo Van Tuan affirmed that Vietnam is maintaining its search for the missing Malaysian aircraft.


The search area is now widened both the east of the plane’s last-known location and to remote areas on the mainland, he said.
