Tourism week to start in Central Highlands province

The 2nd Mang Den Tourism Week, to run from Mar 12 to 16 in Kon Tum province’s Mang Den national ecotourism complex, which is dubbed the second Da Lat, will feature a variety of captivating ethnic minorities’ cultural activities.

The festive week, to run in Kon Plong district, will boast a wooden statue carving fest and performances of gongs, traditional musical instruments and folk songs.

Other highlights are the re-creations of local ethnic minorities’ hallmark traditional fests, cuisine fests as well as camping, hiking and boating trips to Kon Plong pristine pine forest, Dak Ke and Toong Dam Lakes and the newly-opened Pasi waterfall.

The event will also showcase local craft villages’ items and seek investment into the complex.

Last year’s 1st Mang Den Tourism Week, participated by over 300 ethnic artisans, was a huge success. It was the first time some thousand local ethnic people could watch and join such a large-scale fest.

At the height of 1,100m, Mang Den, whose name derives from “T’măng Deeng”, meaning a vast and level land in Mo Nam ethnic minority’s language, boasts huge tourism potentials with lush pristine forests and dozens of lakes and waterfalls.
