(Cinet)- The 2nd Mang Den-Kon Plong Tourism and Cultural Week opened at Mang Den National Ecotourism Complex in Kon Tum Province on March 12.


The week aims to conserve traditional cultural values of ethnic minorities, promote tourism and call investment in Mang Den national ecotourism complex. The event also celebrates the 39th anniversary of the province’s liberation.


An art performance based on the theme Ve Voi Dai Ngan Xanh Mang Den (Come Back with Mang Den Green Jungle) kicked off the five-day event, which comprises several cultural activities.


The festal event will showcase the folk art of wood statue carving crafted by different ethnic groups living in the province.


Performances featuring gong and other ethnic music instruments, folk songs, and traditional festive rituals will also be held during the week.


Other tourism activities to promote the event include excursions to the Kon Plong pine forest, tours to the wood statue garden located within the Pa Sy Waterfall Tourism Complex and visits to the province’s lakes and primitive jungles.


A workshop on tourism co-operation between the three provinces of Kon Tum, Binh Dinh, and Quang Ngai will be part of the event’s agenda.


The event is co- organized by Kon Tum provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Kon Plong people’s committee. It will last till March 16.
