V.A. Pershukov, deputy general manager of the Russian State Atomic Energy Corporation (ROSATOM), on Tuesday awarded the nuclear technology insignia to six Vietnamese scientists for contributions to the modernisation and development of nuclear research in Viet Nam, and for their help in restoring the nuclear reactor in the highland city of Da Lat, to operation 30 years ago.
Pershukov said he appreciated the talent of Vietnamese scientists and the important role Da Lat’s nuclear reactor played in training staff for the first nuclear electricity plant, which is to be built in the coastal province of Ninh Thuan.

City ranks first for fatal industrial accidents
Last year, there were 822 industrial accidents in HCM City, down by nearly 50 per cent in comparision to the previous year. However, the city remains first nationwide for the number of fatal industrial accidents, by 90 cases.
Foreign ship in Vung Tau to be salvaged
According to the People’s Committee of Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province, Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai has called for the 25,000-tonne foreign ship, Wealthy Globe, which ran aground on Bai Truoc (Front Beach) of Vung Tau City in July 2010, to be salvaged.
Hai has assigned the Ministry of Transport to preside over the salvage operation according to the law and regulations.
They must safeguard against fire and pollution and take care not to affect marine operations in the area.

Anchovy dense off Quang Ngai coast
The Quang Ngai central coastal province has been experiencing dense shoals of anchovy since early Tuesday. Several ships netted 6-8 tonnes of anchovy in a single night’s fishing. Fisherman Le Be (Pho Quang Commune, Duc Pho District) netted eight tones at a value of VND12,000 per kg, taking a profit of VND35 million (US$1,660).
