On March 15th, 2014, Thaco Kia has officially introduced New Sorento 2014 at the Chu Lai – Truong Hai automobile engineering complex.
With design and engine innovation along with technological improvements and new features and especially a Diesel version, New Sorento 2014 is expected to be an additional and attractive choice for customers in the SUV segment. Design innovation
The exterior of New Sorento 2014 is completely redesigned compared to the old version, with prominent lines on the body creating a unified sporty modern block. Grille was designed in harmony with the headlights as they are chrome-plated and thinned, thus adding distinction and elegance to New Sorento 2014 beautiful exterior.
The fog light cluster received an additional light operate in accordance with the turn signal to signify the light for driver when turn or operate the car at night. Especially, the wavy LED taillights was designed harmoniously, thus rising the modern and luxury of the car. In addition, New Sorento 2014 the body is lowered by 10 to help the car operate more stable and create a sense of solidity for passengers in the car.
To create a sense of comfort to passengers, the distance between the 2nd and the 3rd seat rows was widened, thus providing more interior space. Additionally, the interior is whether leather-covered, chrome-plated or decorated with faux wood to increase the elegance of the model.

New Sorento was equipped with most of the leading features in a luxury cars, such as a panorama window, ionizing air cleaner, automatic air conditioner with 2 cool zone, 10-direction electric driver seat able to memorize 2 positions, steering wheel integrated with sound and entertainment control, GPS-integrated DVD with Bluetooth Aux/USB/iPod connection, 7-inch LCD screen located in the center dashboard to display information.
Changes in technology
One point worth noting in the release of New Sorento 2014 was an additional diesel version with a 2.2L CRDi (Common Rail Diesel Injection) beside the currently successful petrol engine version. Thanks to the automatic injection system CRDi gen 3 with a injecting pressure of up to 1800 bar together with the exhaust gas recirculation system EGR, the engine was able to achieve large capacity, save fuels (only 6.7l/100km) and lower exhaust gas and noises.
Besides the engine, the body of New Sorento 2014 was also completely reworked compared to the old version. The result was a more rigid body thanks to 18%-harder steel plates capable of absorbing and dispersing damages.
Additionally, the vehicle suspension system applied an H-shaped auxiliary beam to prevent weight to concentrate on one side, thus helped the car operate more stable and robust with lower vibration. Along with that, the high performance multi-point rear suspension dampers (High-performance dampers) also helped the car operate more smoothly, comfortably and also increase traction of tires.
In addition to the improvement in design, New Sorento 2014 was also equipped with PAS (Parking Assistant System) with front/rear sensors and rear camera that display images on DVD screen helping the drivers to park the car easier and rapidly detect obstacles through images and sounds.
