Mid-term population census carried out in April
The Hanoitimes – The General Statistics Office (GSO) will conduct a mid-term census on national population and housing, starting on April 1.

It will be conducted in more than 11,000 communes, wards and towns nationwide, said GSO Director Nguyen Bich Lam.

This is the first time Vietnam will have carried out such a large mid-term survey, he said.

The census aims to collect information on population and key demographic indicators for formulating and evaluating national population programmes.

The census, expected to finish before April 20, will not include people working in the army and public security.

Information on the households’ members and the number of births and deaths during the last five years will be collected.

The results of the census are scheduled to be announced in October.
