VGP – The PM has approved the project on forest sustainable management and biological diversification to mitigate CO2, which is sponsored by the German Government.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development is responsible for carrying out the project, which looks to strengthen the ecosystem in northern mountainous areas and the regional adaption to climate change and livelihood support for local people.
Of total expenditure of €26.07 million, €15 million will be funded by the Official Development Assistance (ODA) preferential loan and €5.5 million in non-refundable aid. Viet Nam contributes €5.57 million.
Within 2014-2020, the project will be carried out in in five Northern provinces including Yen Bai, Lai Chau, Lao Cai, Ha Giang and Bac Can.
It consists three components involving the protection of biological diversification, promotion of biological diversification with sustainable forest management and sustainable forest management.
