Ba Ria – Vung Tau Water Joint Stock Company (BWACO) specialises in manufacturing and supplying clean water for customers in urban zones, industrial parks and concentrated residential areas in Ba Ria – Vung Tau province. With a daily output of 180,000 cubic metres, the company can supply enough water for customers now and in the coming years. The pipeline system extends over 600 km and serves more than 144,000 customers. With 430 employees, including 20 percent holding university degrees or higher, the company always pays due attention to the material and spiritual life of employees, and upgrades professional skills and living skills for them. The firm has established a relatively complete corporate governance system and applied ISO9001:2008 international quality management standard system and ISO17025:2005 laboratory certification. The company was rated one of the best performing companies in the region the Southeast Asian Water Utilities Network (SEAWUN). Powered by professional employees and modern management methods, the company’s water benchmarking indexes – based on the World Bank criteria – are on par of those in many developed countries.


Unlike many large-scaled water companies in other provinces and cities with a very high degree of water loss, the company’s rate of water loss is always stable at less than 12 percent for many years and even below 10 percent in 2013 due to effective measures. Presently, the firm is rated one of the companies with the lowest water loss rate in Vietnam. In addition to upgrading technical infrastructure system, improving water quality and raising water supply, BWACO has also focused on perfecting customer service, building corporate culture, training professional and devoted employees, and respecting customer benefits. Hence, the company has received good feedbacks from customers.


While being very successful with business front, the company is also very active in social and charitable activities. Each year, BWACO extracts VND1 billion from its welfare fund for the meaningful work. Besides, the firm has built the “BWACO Golden Heart” Fund which draws the broad involvement and support of workers who willingly reduce their lunch rations to raise funds. In 2013, the company and its employees donated VND1.2 billion to the fund to help poor patients and their families to ease their burdens in the fight against diseases. The firm also provides free water at schools and public places for citizens and tourists. Every year, thousands of students participate in extracurricular studies in Da Den Reservoir managed by the company.
