Soc Trang is implementing the project “Support for low carbon agriculture” sponsored by the Asian Development Bank (ADB). The project aims to contribute to livestock waste management, pollution reduction, creating clean energy sources and improving the quality of life of the people.
The 5-year project(2013-2018) includes components for livestock waste management, credit for the biogas value chain, technology transfer for low carbon agriculture and project management.
The total investment of the project “Support for low carbon agriculture” is more than VND 39 billion mainly from the loans the Asian Development Bank. More than 3,600 biogas plants will be built.
According to Mr. Quach Van Tay, Director of Department of Veterinary of Soc Trang, Director of Project Management Board, thank to the project, people will benefit from the use of biogas to handle with the environmental problem in animal waste management and use of renewable energy from biogas for production activities as well.
