VietNamNet Bridge – At the age of 82, Mr. Ngo Truong Tho still does haircuts for people on the pavement of Le Van Huu Street, Hanoi. He is proud to raise six children in this profession.
The small barber who works in a small room on Le Van Huu Street is very familiar to many people in Hanoi.
Mr. Ngo Truong Tho was born in 1932. He started working as a barber from the 1950s. Initially, he worked on the sidewalk of Nguyen Du Street. In 1961 he moved to 94 Le Van Huu.
He mainly serves regular customers, with VND20,000 ($1)/person.
Mr. Nam said he has had his hair cut here since childhood. Four generations of Nam's family are customers of the old barber.
At the age of 82, Mr. Tho is happy that he could raise six children with his job, and he is still healthy to serve society.
The pairs of scissors, combs and clippers that have followed him for decades.
This chair has been alongside with him for 62 years.
There are two big chairs and several plastic hairs in his small shop.
He always closes the shop at 6pm.
Tho said he usually gets up at 4.30am to do morning exercise, have breakfast before going to the shop. In the afternoon, he always drinks three glasses of beer before having dinner. VNE
