The project’s target is to enhance the responding competence of the local governments and people through the implementation of coping measures (works and non-works) at the occurrence of floods in urban areas. Accordingly, the project is implemented in 6 wards of the two provinces of Phu Yen and Binh Dinh with the total expenditure of over 9 billion dongs, including Wards 1,2, Phu Dong (Tuy Hoa city), wards Nhon Binh, Thi Nai, Hai Cang (Quy Nhon city). The implemented activities are: equipping means of transportation to support the local governments in coping with natural disasters, training on minimizing risks, coping with climate change for the members of the boards of combating floods and storms at all levels; enhancing the awareness of preventing, coping with natural disasters for the leaders of both the localities and communities; training on first-aid and swimming among the teachers, pupils of primary schools; organizing the conferences on enhancing the awareness of the city’s government on intermingling genders and the handicapped on preventing and coping with disasters…Accordingly, there will be over 56,000 people benefiting from this program (among whom over 6,300 people getting direct benefit) from the diversified activities of the project.
