Ministry invests in truck-weighing supplies

Viet Nam has bought 67 sets of scales and other advanced technologies in order to weigh trucks transporting goods on the road networks, according to the Ministry of Transportation.


It added that 55 out of 63 provinces and cities have carried out examinations on trucks’ weight. Ha Noi, Hai Duong, Phu Tho, Yen Bai, Ha Nam and Thanh Hoa are some of the many provinces and cities, that have taken part well.


The ministry said that in participating areas, the number of accidents has reduced. There are plans to roll out further examinations in the provinces.

Tuyen Quang to build market systems


The northern province of Tuyen Quang has decided to pour VND521 billion (US$24.8 million) into developing their commercial infrastructure between now and 2020.


The province will spend VND120 billion ($5.7 million) on developing market systems in the province. Another VND230 billion ($11 million) will be used to develop 10 trade and service centres and VND110 billion ($5.3 million) will be for supermarkets.


The province aims to reach a growth rate of 13 per cent per year for the commercial sector.

Thai Binh finds counterfeit goods


Nearly 6,000 cases of counterfeit and illegally-imported products were discovered in the northern province of Thai Binh. About 1,800 of them were subject to fines, raising VND4.5 billion ($215,000) for the state budget.

Municipal parking fees to be capped


Fees for vehicle parking will not be allowed to exceed VND20,000 per time for cars, VND4,000 to motorbikes and VND2,000 for bikes, according to a new circular which was effective from yesterday.


In HCM City and Ha Noi, the maximum fee for cars is set at VND40,000 per time. Fees at night may be higher but not more than double.
