The Tourism Malaysia has launched a promotion campaign hoping to attract more Vietnamese tourists to visit the country and attend the renowned Formula One Grand Prix (F1GP) to be hosted late next month.
The campaign is organized as part of a series of year-long special events and activities to celebrate the 4th Visit Malaysia Year, according to Tourism Malaysia, a Ho Chi Minh City-based agency run by the Malaysian Ministry of Tourism & Culture.
While the F1GP is still quite a new event to most of the Vietnamese, the Tourism Malaysia on Friday held a conference in the city to create awareness and excitement about Formula 1.
The agency also joined hands with local travel agencies to introduce several tour packages in which holidaymakers will not only tour around Malaysia as usual but also experience the racing event first-hand.
“An F1 package that includes watching the pulsating action on an F1 race track as a part of its itinerary is sure to create enthusiasm among tourists and boost their excitement,” the agency said, adding it also collaborated with Malaysia Airlines to launch special promotions for tourists during the F1 season.
At the Friday conference, many local tour organizers also introduced promotional packages to enjoy the F1GP in Malaysia.
The F1GP will take place at the Sepang International Circuit, 50km from Malaysia’s capital of Kuala Lumpur. It is expected to welcome over 100,000 spectators for this year’s F1 Petronas Malaysia Grand Prix from March 28 to 30.
There are many other activities for tourists to enjoy in Malaysia this March, including the Malaysia Grand Prix Sale that runs nationwide from March 15 to April 6, the 19th World Kite Festival 2014, the 5th Malaysia International Shoe Festival 2014, the 6th Putrajaya International Hot Air Balloon Fiesta 2014, and the Future Music Festival Asia 2014.
More than 235,000 Vietnamese holidaymakers visited Malaysia last year and Vietnam is among the country’s top 15 tourist generating markets.
