Statues of four excellent generals

Statues of four excellent generals, namely Ly Thuong Kiet, Tran Quoc Tuan, Quang Trung (also known as Nguyen Hue) and Vo Nguyen Giap, which are on display at the Vietnam Military History Museum in Hanoi, have drawn much attention of many people.


The production of these statues is the result of a project titled ” Vietnam’s eminent generals” organised by Heritage Inns with Circle Group in collaboration with the Vietnam History Association and UNESCO in Hanoi.


The four outstanding tacticians represent thousands of excellent generals who have served the country in various periods of its 4000-year history


After introducing sketches of the generals last August 24, sculptors gathered experts’ feedback and made efforts to complete their works to honour the national heroes and bring them closer to life.


Senior lieutenant-general Nguyen Huy Hieu, former Deputy Minister of National Defence, said that the exhibition aimed to educate young generations about the patriotic tradition, the will to protect national independence and territorial integrity, hence upholding and doing well the tasks of national building and defence.


The exhibition also sent message to people in the world about the tradition of national building and defence, love for peace and will to struggle for national independence and sovereignty of Vietnamese people.


History researcher Duong Trung Quoc said that the sculptures helped generations to further understand national history.


The exhibition will last until February 24./.
