Dung Quat Oil Refinery effectively functions in Quang Ngai Since 10 years of service, Dung Quat Oil Refinery has contributed to economic development of Quang Ngai Province, said Pham Nhu So, deputy chairman of the People’s Committee of Quang Ngai on February 24.

The province’s total income tax was VND 500 billion (US$23.7 million) in 2005. It increased to VND 28,094 billion (US$1.33 billion) in 2013 with 90 percent of the money coming from Dung Quat.

The plant processes crude oil which secures energy and reduces dependence on imported petrol supplies.

Quang Ngai is reserving 500 hectares for expansion of the refinery, said So at a seminar on sustainable development. The seminar was held by the Vietnam Petroleum Association and Binh Son Refining & Petrochemical Company Limited.
