According to the consultant, the route is nearly 46 km long, with nearly 20 km of elevated rail and 15 stations.
As planned, the route will include three rails of 1,000 mm gauge. In the long term, two rails of 1,435 mm gauge will be built.
The route will be built in different stages. In the first stage, the Di An (Binh Duong province) – Ho Chi Minh City route will be built, expected to start before 2020 and the Di An – Trang Bom route will be built later.
“The Ministry of Transport will work with donors to call for capital investment in the infrastructure. However, HCM City has to take care of the funding for site clearance,” Deputy Minister Nguyen Ngoc Dong said.
According to the Ministry of Transport’s plan, by 2020, HCM City will have the following rail routes: Trang Bom ( Dong Nai ) – Hoa Hung (Saigon Railway Station), Ho Chi Minh City – My Tho – Can Tho (174km long), Ho Chi Minh City – Nha Trang (366km), HCM City – Tay Ninh (139km), Di An – Loc Ninh (128km), Thu Thiem – Thanh International Airport (Dong Nai), Bien Hoa – Vung Tau (54.6 km).
The total investment for these routes is VND341.3 trillion, which will be mobilized from ODA loans, government bonds, the state budget and private enterprises.
