Nhan Dan – Young Vietnamese tennis star Ly Hoang Nam leapt up an amazing 23 places from 75th to 52nd in the latest world junior rankings, announced the International Tennis Federation on January 20.
This is Hoang Nam’s best rating in his tennis career so far and also Vietnam’s highest ever ranking on the world junior ladder. The previous best rating of 67th was held by Nguyen Hoang Thien in early 2012.
Nam won an additional 57.5 points thanks to his shining performance at a recent ITF Grade 1 competition, the Copa Gatorade 2014 in Venezuela, in which Nam made the men’s singles finals and the men’s doubles quarterfinals.
Hoang Nam is now the best junior tennis player in Southeast Asia and the 12th best in Asia with his new ranking.
