Tien Minh rises three places to seventh on world rankings
Nhan Dan – Vietnam badminton star Nguyen Tien Minh climbed from tenth to seventh place in the latest men’s singles world rankings announced by the Badminton World Federation (BWF) on January 16.
Minh earned an additional 2,380 points after advancing into the quarterfinals of the recent Victor Korea Open 2014, raising his total BWF rating to 57,236 points.
This three-step promotion is a good start for Tien Minh in the new year following his four consecutive weeks of remaining in 10th position since December 19, 2013.
Lee Chong Wei of Malaysia defended his place atop the world standings with 97,073 points, followed by China’s Chen Long (76,205 points), Denmark’s Jan O Jorgensen (65,868), Indonesia’s Tommy Sugiarto (65,557), Japan’s Kenichi Tago (64,664) and Thailand’s Boonsak Ponsana (60,687).
