(CPV) - Overwhelming “older brother chessman” Le Quang Liem with 917 points, “cetus” Nguyen Thi Anh Vien, the girl from the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho, won the best athlete title in 2013.


Her happiness was doubled as coach Dang Anh Tuan was also announced as the best coach title in a voting ceremony from sports reporters both held in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh city on January 22.


Anh Vien, 18, senior lieutenant, was named in the history of Vietnam’s swimming sector as becoming the first ever female athlete wining a gold medal after 54 years of competition (from the first SEAP Games, Bangkok, Thailand in 1959).




She pocketed 3 gold medals, two of which are new records of SEA Games festival. In 2014, the highest target of the Military team’s athlete is Asiad playing ground, expecting a surprise in the 200m’s backstroke swimming event. She is now in the US for training under a VND4 billion budget.

Chessman Le Quang Liem ranked 2nd position with 662 points, although he played no matches in SEA Games, but an impressive record in the World Championships held in Russia.


Gaining 597 points from 125 sports reporters (from over 50 media organizations nationwide), ranking 3rd was shooter Hoang Xuan Vinh, with his gold medal at the ISSF World Shooting Championships took place in Changwon city, located at the centre of the Republic of Korea’s southern Kyeongnam.

In the 4th place, sprinter Vu Thi Huong, 590 points, demonstrated an impressive return in SEA Games with two gold medals in her strong suits, the 100m and 200m events.


Meanwhile, weightlifter Thach Kim Tuan from Ho Chi Minh city gained 387 points, placing 5th in the list.


In the list of best coach, as expectation, Nguyen Thi Anh Vien’s close coach, Mr Dang Anh Tuan cleared the bar with 328 points, while the runner-ups were Nguyen Thi Nhung (215 points) and Nguyen Dinh Minh (120 points).


Of the same day, the organizing board also announced Cao Ngoc Hung from Ho Chi Minh city (353 points, athletics) won the best disabled athlete title, while the best disabled coach title belonged to Dong Quoc Cuong (179 points, swimming) also from Ho Chi Minh city./.
