VGP – The consumer price index (CPI) posted a month-on-month increase of 0.7% in January, 2014 and a year-on-year surge of 6.78%.
Prices of ten out of 11 groups of commodities subject to calculation increased, of which two increased over 1%, including beverage and tobacco (1.29%) and transport (1.19%).
Meanwhile, the cost of food and restaurant expanded by 0.77%; garments, hats, footwear 0.99%; education 0.02%; culture, entertainment and tourism 0.86%; fuel and building materials 0.76%; household utensils 0.6%; pharmacy and medical services 0.03%; goods and other services 0.31%.
So far, purchasing power has been increasing. However, the market has yet witnessed big surges thanks to abundant supply of goods and the local price stabilization program./.
