Hanoi sees 0.7 percent CPI rise in January

Hanoi’s consumer price index (CPI) in January rose 0.7 percent against the previous month and 6.78 percent year-on-year as a result of price hikes in ten out of eleven commodity baskets.

The prices of beverage and tobacco recorded the highest monthly rise, with an increase of 1.29 percent. The prices of traffic services increased 1.19 percent while postal services and telecommunications’ services remained unchanged compared to last month.


The prices of garments, hats and footwear came third, rising by 0.99 percent. The prices of foodstuffs and restaurant services rose 0.77 percent while the prices of services related to culture-entertainment-tourism posted an increase of 0.86 percent. The prices of housing, power, water, fuel, and construction material rose 0.76 percent and home appliances saw 0.6 percent rise.


Healthcare services made a slightly increase of 0.31 percent while education services witnessed a lowest increase of 0.02 percent.-VNA
