The governor of the Cambodian capital Phnom Penh, Paso Cheatvong, on January 17 ordered local authorities to take necessary measures to maintain security during the traditional New Year (Tet) festivities of Vietnamese and Chinese communities .
The directive guidelines prohibit some activities, including fireworks and other explosive materials and marching without a permit, while also strengthening security at entertainment spots across the city.
It was issued to all levels of the municipal city government, agencies, non-government organisations, businesses and local people.
Many Cambodian people will enjoy the Tet festival’s fun and food because of their close ties with the Vietnamese and Chinese communities.-VNA
