Hoi An launches an audio guide system to serve tourists

The launch is part of a range of activities held to mark the 19th anniversary of UNESCO’s recognition of Hoi An’s ancient town as a world cultural heritage site and Vietnam’s Heritage Day (November 23).

Pham Phu Ngoc, a vice-director of the Hoi An Center for Cultural Heritage Management and Preservation, said the launch of the audio guide system at sites across Hoi An will allow visitors to benefit.

Visitors ranging from researchers, local and foreign visitors will be able to gain better insights into the history and culture of Hoi An, as well as discovering the land and people through objects and stories related to the exhibited objects.

The audio guide system will be available in six languages including Vietnamese, English, French, Japanese, Korean and Chinese.

This is the first time Hoi An has applied technology as a way of introducing its cultural characteristics and history.
