Vietnam welcomes over 10.4 million foreign visitors in first eight months

Among them, arrivals by air, road, and sea in the reviewed period recorded annual increases of 17.3 pct, 62.1 pct and 1.6 pct, respectively.

Over the past eight months, over 8 million visitors arrived from Asia, accounting for more than 77 pct of the total number of tourists travelling to the country, an increase of 27 pct over the same period last year.

Meanwhile, visitors from Europe were estimated at over 1.4 million, up 9.8 pct over the same period last year, 636,400 were from the Americas, mainly from the United States, up 12.6 pct, 300,700 came from Oceania, up 7.4 pct, and nearly 28,000 arrived from Africa, up 20.4 pct.

In August alone, over 1.3 million foreign visitors arrived in Vietnam, representing an annual increase of 11.3 pct. Of which arrivals by air increased by 7.7 pct, by road increased by 29.4 pct, and arriving by sea increased by 21.3 pct. Compared to the same period last year, international visitors to Vietnam increased by 7.7 pct, of which Asian visitors increased 8.2 pct, Europeans rose 5.8 pct, from the Americas increased by 9 pct, from Oceania decreased by 0.1 pct and those from Africa increased by 13.7 pct.
