Cua Van fishing village among world’s 16 most wonderful destinations

In an article compiled by travel bloggers on the renowned travel site, the fishing village comes 14th among the 16 destinations for nature enthusiasts and is described as a hidden gem in the World Heritage-listed Halong Bay.

Visiting Cua Van is seen as a once-in-a-lifetime experience. There, visitors can take a look at the beautiful limestone karsts and isles of Halong Bay, take photos of the floating fishing village with colorful raft houses and gain hands-on experience in daily lives of fishermen.

The website of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (vietnamtourism.com) says Cua Van fishing village is home to more than 170 households whose subsistence livelihood mainly depends on fishing activity. Last year, the village also made the list of the top 30 travel destinations around the globe, voted by readers by the U.S.-based Travel + Leisure magazine.

In 2015, the village was named the world’s most charming little town by the U.S. online newspaper Huffington Post and won the hearts of many domestic and international tourists by colorful floating houses, magnificent limestone hills and winding streets.

Data of Halong City shows the number of visitors to the city last year climbed to 6.9 million, a year-on-year surge of 12.9%, with 2.94 million of them from abroad.
