A winter festival will be organized in the mountainous district of Sapa in the northern upland province of Lao Cai from December 23, the Government news website quotes a source from the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT).

This is the second year the district has hosted the festival with a variety of cultural and entertainment activities highlighting unique cultural traits of ethnic minority groups.
Visitors can take a close look at some of the town’s activities such as folk games, performances of traditional musical instruments and local cuisine. One of the new features of this event is a fire dance performance by Red Dao ethnic minority people.
Along with the winter festival, Sapa is preparing a street festival featuring a range of programs such as parades, traditional costume performances, and dragon and lion dance shows on major streets in the district on the night of December 31.
