North adopts preventive measures against damaged cold

Damaged cold shouldered over the northern and central region of Vietnam on January 23, reported the Central Hydrology Meteorology Forecast Center.

By January 24, the weather phenomenon starts entering the south central region, and then it is going to affect directly the southern provinces on Sunday and Monday.

Because of the influence of cold front, the lowest temperature in Ho Chi Minh City reaches at 18- 22 degrees Celsius.

According to the latest news from the Central Hydrology Meteorology Forecast Center, thick ice and snow have occurred in the area of Hoang Lien Son National Park in Sa Pa, causing the daytime temperature drop to minis zero degrees Celsius.

Chairman of the People’s Committee of Sa Pa district Vu Hung Dung said: “Thousands domestic and foreign travelers flocked to Sa Pa to see the weather phenomenon”.

In Hanoi, the highest temperature measured at 10 degrees Celsius at 5pm, and dropped down six degrees Celsius at midnight.

Vice director of the National Hydrology Meteorology Forecast Center Le Thanh Hai stressed due to the prolonged strongest operation of damaged cold, locals need to actively warm up cattle farms.

By yesterday evening, Director of Department of Agricultural and Rural Development of Lao Cai Nguyen Anh Tuan reported the provincial People’s Committee adopted plans and preventive measures against the cold wave which is affecting cattle and resident’s life.

More than 5, 000 buffaloes and cattle in communes of Trung Chai, Ta Phin, Suoi Thau, Ban Phung were moved to warmer areas in Lao Cai city to avoid the bad weather, added Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan.

Meanwhile, the People’s Committee of Bat Xat district in collaboration with functional forces instructed farmers to protect life of over 21, 000 buffaloes and cows. Deputy Director of the Agricultural and Rural Development of Bac Kan Nguyen Dinh Diep announced: “Dealing with the bad weather, the authority planned to help people in the mountainous districts of Pac Nam, Ngan Son, Ba Be, Na Ri protect over 82, 000 cattle including buffaloes, cows and horses and 1, 000 hectares of vegetable crops.

Current daytime temperature in above areas reduces to 4- 6 degrees Celsius”.
