NDO – The 2015 National Professional Drama Competition wrapped up at Lam Son theatre, in the central province of Thanh Hoa on July 6.

The competition was co-organised by the Department of Performing Arts under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Vietnam Association of Stage Artists and the Thanh Hoa Provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

The competition drew the participation of 19 arts troupes from across the country, who brought 29 plays. The plays reflected the indomitable spirit of our forefathers in the cause of national construction and defence, and honoured the revolutionary heroism and brave spirit of the Vietnamese people during the national resistance wars against France and the US.

The works submitted to the competition also praised positive examples in the national renewal cause as well as condemned social ills.

The organising board presented five gold and seven silver prizes to outstanding plays by art troupes, while they also offered 47 gold and 75 silver medals to outstanding actors, as well as certificates to the best writers, directors, musicians, choreographers, painters and lighting designers.

The event aimed to honour individuals and collectives that have made outstanding achievements in artistic creations and made active contributions to the stage.

The competition also offers an opportunity for arts troupes and artists to meet, promote creations and focus on staging new high-quality plays, meeting people’s increasing demand for the arts.
