Dead fish cover 4-km long section of Saigon canal

VietNamNet Bridge – Thousands of fish in a state of decomposition are floating on a 4-km long section of Nhieu Loc – Thi Nghe in Tan Binh District, emitting a terrible odor affecting local people and passers-by. Vietnam allocates $450 million to clean Nhieu Loc – Thi Nghe canal

People are worried about pollution in the canal. Local authorities sent workers to take out the dead fish but they continued to die.

Nhieu Loc-Thi Nghe is a major canal in HCM City. It runs roughly eight kilometers through seven districts in Ho Chi Minh City.

A project worth of hundreds of millions of USD was carried out over a few years to clean the canal but it has become polluted again because people keep throwing rubbish into it.

The second phase of the project will start this year.
